Christmas and NYE in New York

December is one of the most beautiful months for a visit to New York. The holiday season in the Big Apple has a unique charm, showing a more sentimental side of the bustling metropolis. Of course, shopping around Christmas is also a huge attraction in New York.

As soon as the festive period ends, the city transforms into a giant party zone. New Year’s Eve is celebrated in New York like nowhere else in the world. Many head to Times Square—a classic spot for ringing in the New Year, drawing around a million people last year—or to one of the hundreds of parties in New York’s clubs and bars.

If you’re planning a trip to New York during this time, it’s best to book well in advance, as hotels reach record levels of occupancy in December, and New York Local apartments and tour slots are often already booked up.

On December 15, 2015, the annual New York Local Christmas Tour will take place in a mini-bus. We’ll visit various neighborhoods with diverse populations to see how New Yorkers decorate their neighborhoods and eagerly anticipate the holiday season.

The tour runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $99 per person. Space is limited, so we recommend booking well in advance. (Unfortunately sold out for 2015.)
