First of all, congratulations on your wedding plans. We are delighted that you are considering New York, the most exciting city in the world, for this special day. It’s hard to imagine a better place!
I am a German wedding planner in New York who has been taking care of all aspects of getting married in New York since 2005: from venue, photographer, justice of the peace, stylist, transportation to help with the documents including obtaining the international marriage certificate with apostille so that it is valid in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and elsewhere. Apart from the passport and divorce decree, if applicable, the bride and groom do not need any documents. It doesn’t matter what nationality you are.
Locations from Central Park, to Brooklyn Bridge Park, to the Top of the Rock, high above the rooftops of New York, or simply the registry office.
With our small agency you get the best of both worlds – planning, preparation, on-site support, with a German partner, but otherwise everyone in the team is a real New Yorker, so that the wedding also has an authentic New York flair. You have a single point of contact who takes care of everything, so your wedding in New York remains stress-free. With us, there are no packages, but you put together your wedding in New York individually, with us as your wedding planner.

Many couples get married here because it allows for a different kind of wedding, without the usual pressure and preparation stress at home. New York is the ideal city to experience this very special day – crazy, fast and colorful, but also incredibly romantic. Even though there is the option to take advantage of some extra services, getting married in New York with ENY remains essentially simple. In contrast to a traditional wedding, you have plenty of time for each other on the wedding day itself and everything remains manageable, including the costs.
Here are our most popular service elements:
- Personal assistance with all formalities
- Arranging the wedding location: Popular locations for weddings in New York include Central Park, under the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Top of the Rock observation deck—just a few of the spots where the wedding ceremony can take place.

For a marriage certificate issued in New York to be valid in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, it must be notarized by the County Clerk and certified with an apostille by the New York State Department. Echt New York handles these steps for you, so you don’t have to deal with the bureaucracy and can instead enjoy these special days in New York to the fullest. Only then can the marriage be seamlessly registered at the registry office in your home country.
Aside from your passport and, if applicable, the translation of your divorce decree, you won’t need any additional documents to get married in New York.
